Knee Resurfacing: what is it?

  • Unicompartmental knee resurfacing is a surgical procedure which involves the resurfacing of the worn out bony surface of the knee joint.
  • Resurfacing is achieved by implanting self-aligning metal on plastic retreads for the exposed bone.
  • It is designed to relieve weight bearing pain, rebalance the knee and improve knee function.
